2024 EDI Award Recipient – Josée Sunday
We are thrilled to announce the recipient of the 2024 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Admission Award, established in 2022 to recognize and support equity-seeking applicants to the Master of Health Management (MHM) Program. This award is given to an individual who has who has shared their unique experience as a member of an equity-seeking group.
This year’s award goes to Josée Sunday, MHM Candidate ‘27. Josée is from the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, and a new mother who has embarked on her journey in the Master’s in Healthcare Management program this fall, while working as the Indigenous Transition Facilitator at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston.
Josée’s dedication to representing Indigenous people and their interests in healthcare is truly commendable. She co-chairs the Indigenous Transition Facilitator Community of Practice provincially and the Indigenous Palliative Care Support Strategies subgroup regionally. Additionally, she serves on the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Advisory Council, as well as various staff education and policy working groups within her organization. Her efforts have reduced barriers to communication and enhanced health information sharing between hospitals and communities.
The EDI Admission Award will allow Josée to work towards her MHM degree and continue her vital work in improving healthcare access for Indigenous people in the Southeast region. We are honored to support her in her journey and look forward to her continued contributions to the field of healthcare management.
