Dina Brooks honoured by the University of Ottawa

Dina Brooks, professor and vice-dean (health sciences) and executive director of McMaster’s School of Rehabilitation Science has received an honorary degree from the University of Ottawa.

Brooks received the recognition at the university’s Faculty of Health Sciences convocation this week, noting her international leadership in cardiorespiratory rehabilitation.

She was a faculty member and researcher at the University of Toronto from 1999 until taking the McMaster position in January this year.

The University of Ottawa noted her decade as a Canada Research Chair in Rehabilitation and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
The university also mentioned Brooks’ many previous honours, including a Queen’s Jubilee Medalfor the impact of her research on the lives of individuals with lung disease, and her fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, which isthe highest national honour that recognizes international leadership, academic performance and scientific creativity. Brooks has also received the highest honour in Canadian Physiotherapy Association, the Enid Graham Award.
