A regulated health professional is a member of a regulatory college or affiliation for a specific profession. This body typically has a mandate to serve and protect the public and its health care providers through setting and enforcing standards or rules of practice for that profession. They help to ensure that their members conduct themselves in a safe, ethical and professional manner. Often, these members must complete re-certification, or show continued education based on specific criteria by the regulatory college/affiliation.
A small sample of these professions are: audiologists, dietitians, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and MDs. These may differ from province to province or country to country.
Applicants who do not have a regulated health professional designation can still be considered but will need to follow different requirement criteria. Please refer to the admission requirements page.
