Students most frequently ask questions about how to enrol, course selection options, and taking a leave from their studies.  If your questions are not answered below, Students are invited to contact the Program Office.

Student Onboarding Checklist Review Checklist

Students will receive a variety of emails as they begin their graduate career with this program. The program has created a checklist to assist you as you navigate the start of your first academic year.

Course Selections

Just prior to the start of each academic year, you will receive instructions at your McMaster email explaining the enrolment process and the steps you need to follow to successfully enrol in your academic terms. You are required to take the appropriate number of courses per semester and have continuous enrollment each academic year.

Course Electives Review Electives

MHM students have some course choices in Year 2 and Year 3. Please review the course pages for available options. Students will also be able to view the available options within the Avenue to Learn MHM Virtual Office platform.

 

Taking A Leave Learn More

McMaster University has mechanisms in place to support students to take a leave from their studies should they require it for health or financial reasons. Please reach out to the Program office for assistance with your situation.

Graduation Requirements Review Requirements

Completing your master’s degree requirements is the responsibility of the student, in consultation with their program, to ensure that all requirements have been satisfied.

Once you have completed all your courses (8) and all other curriculum requirements, students should notify the program office and they will inform the School of Graduate Studies that you are ready to proceed to graduation.

Career Development & Planning Read Testimonials

Some graduates receive a promotion during or within 1 year of completing the MHM degree and some seek additional education after their MHM degree and some of our graduates have successfully gained admission to PhD programs.

Students are encouraged to:

  • use the many career resources and services available to you at McMaster.
  • complete the Scholarly Paper course, if you are a considering PhD program, and present your work or projects at conferences, and seek to get your work or projects published and investigate PhD graduate programs of interest to you.
